Starting a project
with you, no matter how small or large, should be a positive and rewarding
experience for both of us. With each website being personal and built from
scratch, the time of beginning to completion will vary. Depending on your
needs and my workload it could take from 1 to 4 weeks (longer for
e-commerce, depending on number of products). When deciding to have
myself, or anyone, design a site, it is good to give enough time for
estimated deadlines.
Communicating will be very important in the beginning stage as I design
and put up pages to one of my servers for you to view and share your
thoughts or any changes you'd like to see. The quicker we share thoughts and suggestions, the
quicker it can be worked on. Sending correspondence via email is often
used, though there will be times that conveying information will be best
handled over the telephone. I enjoy explaining certain decisions this way
for those who enjoy learning, as well as hearing your thoughts. I am
professional, yet an easy person to talk to.
Pricing and Payment
I offer pricing in two ways; either a bundled package, or hourly.
My hourly fee is $20.00. After you contact me, I will listen to your
ideas, vision and needs regarding the design of the site. This, I prefer to
do by telephone in order to hear what is often lost via text and it allows
for questions to be asked and answered immediately. Then I will give you
an estimate on how many hours I feel it will take in order for you to
decide on the plan that works best for you. Initial consultations are always free
of charge.

After we have discussed your desires and requirements, I will begin designing your website.
I do require a non-refundable down payment of 10%. I accept PayPal, check or money order. I am also open to
discussing payment plans if you need to go that route.
Getting Started
I will work on building the 'theme' design of your site. This involves the
layout, logo, graphics, colors, font style, etc. The mock-up page(s) will
be sent onto the web for you to view and either approve or share what you
don't like. I will continue to make needed changes until you are satisfied
with the design. During this process I welcome your honest opinions and
thoughts so that I will be able to create what you've envisioned. I will
also offer suggestions and alternatives if applicable along the way
concerning different elements you may want, as to how it will affect your
site from a visitors experience. The final choice will be yours since my
main goal is delivering complete satisfaction. At the time of selecting
your site's theme and layout, I will bill you for another 20%. Upon
receiving payment, I will start adding the rest of the content, any
special features, functions, and coding.*
The pages are then tested on a variety of major browsers and systems for
functionality, errors and cohesiveness. Some browsers, versions of
browsers and even operating systems can cause a site to appear or function
differently, depending on the coding. Certain browsers have add-ons to
handle different coding such as javascript, flash, php, etc. and others
don't, so I try to find a way to produce the desired effect that is the
most browser friendly. If there is a problem, I will discuss it with you
immediately.
Once all of the pages are done and I've tested them out you will be able
to view the site on one of my servers and test it to your satisfaction.
After you have approved the site I will bill you for the remaining 70% of
your bill. When payment has been received I will upload the site to your
server and ensure it works properly there. I do recommend using Yahoo as a
hosting site. I have worked with their hosting deals for many years and
they offer great packages. I will be more than happy to walk you through
the process of deciding which package works best for your site. I have
included links to deals they offer at the bottom of this page. I will also
keep a backup of your site for a limited time on my own server in case you
ever need a copy of the original files.
I do offer a monthly maintenance plan
for those who need small changes made on their site. This could
include, but not limited to, events, graphics, product changes/pricing, or
general information. The average fee for this service is $25.00 per
month.
If you have any questions at all, I will be happy to answer them to the
best of my abilities.
*It is your responsibility to provide the content for your site. This
includes text, any specific graphics you want included in the design (such
as product images, images of people, or logos etc). If you are just in
need of general pictures for the site, I have a very large collection of
graphics and photography images. I have a photographer I work with, so it
should be easy to find something special for you.
